Baylor’s Perry Jones suspended by NCAA

University of Baylor big man and potential top five pick in this year’s NBA draft, Perry Jones, has been suspended indefinitely by the NCAA.
The ruling comes after it was revealed that the 6-11 power forwards mother accepted loans from an AAU coach when Jones was in high school. Representatives from Baylor have appealed the decision.
The decision could not have come at a worse time with the Bears primed for a shot at the Big-12 tournament this week and the NCAA tournament in just a few days time.
If the decision is upheld the versatile forward will be ineligible to return to college play, likely resulting in his declaration for the upcoming draft.
Jones has been highly regarded as an NBA prospect due to his extreme versatility, with some comparing him to Los Angels Lakers forward Lamar Odom. The freshman who is averaging 13.9 points and 7.2 rebounds is slated to go as high as number two overall in some draft boards.
The ruling could potentially hurt his draft status as historically NCAA tournament play has had big impact on the drafting of players into the NBA.
The suspension against Jones will stand, pending an NCAA investigation into the payments received.
